The Police Chief

Gage Adams started his law enforcement career while he was serving in the Marine Corps, during the Vietnam War.  He rose to the rank of Sergeant in the Military Police.  He has been a police officer since 1973.  He became the Chief of Police in Buffalo in 1978.  

Chief Adams has an associates degree from Muscatine Community College.  He is a member of the Iowa Associations of Chiefs of Police and is a graduate of the Street Survival School.  He has been awarded the police departments highest honor, the Medal of Honor, for saving the lives of two Buffalo citizens during a grain elevator fire.  He has been involved in community policing since his start with the Buffalo police.  Chief Adams hobbies include weight training and horse back riding.  He is also an avid hunter.  He also enjoys spending time with his three children.

 

Full Time Officers

 

 

T.J. Behning joined the Buffalo Police Department in February of 1997 and was promoted to Sergeant in February of 1999. 

Sergeant Behning is currently assigned to the 2nd shift Patrol Division. He is the Department's Field Training Officer as well as the Department's Evidence Technician.  T.J. enjoys all types of sports, especially football.  He is married and has two daughters.

 

 

 

Terry Ferkel joined the Buffalo Police Department in 1979.

Terry graduated from ILEA (Iowa Law Enforcement Academy) in June of 1981.  Shortly after that he went to Blue Grass and served as patrolman, sergeant, and finally Police Chief while serving as a part time officer in Buffalo. He left Blue Grass in 1990 and in 2003 became a full time officer in Buffalo. While in Blue Grass he made newspaper headlines for delivering a baby in the back seat of the mothers car.  The 2 yr old sister of the infant watched the entire episode from the front seat.  Terry enjoys spending time with his sons as well as riding his Harley Davidson Dyna Defender motorcycle, flying ultra-light aircraft and rehabilitating some homes he purchased in Buffalo.  Terry serves as a patrolman and works different shifts as needed.

 

Part Time Officers

Rich Aleksiejczyk joined the Buffalo Police Department in the spring of 1983.

Rich is a graduate of St. Ambrose University, with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice.  He was promoted to Corporal in 2000 and is currently assigned to Patrol and Traffic Enforcement.  Corporal Aleksiejczyk is proud to serve the Buffalo Community as the Department's D.A.R.E. Officer for the past six years.  Other special assignments include community policing and patrolling the Buffalo Beach during the summer months utilizing the Department's quad runner.  Rich is a gang identification expert and currently a member of the Mid-West Gang Investigators Association.  He is certified in CPR and is  also a First Responder.  Corporal Aleksiejczyk enjoys spending time traveling with his wife and son, Joseph.  

 

Jim Morrissey joined the Buffalo Police Department in the summer of 1995.

He has been involved in law enforcement since 1992. Officer Morrissey is currently assigned to patrol.  He has specialized training in evidence collection, public relations, and has been trained on the departments quad runner.  Jim's hobbies include bicycling, weight training and boating.  He is a big Green Bay Packer and Chicago Bulls fan.  Jim is married and plans on having a family.
